Current trends in library patronage by faculties in Nigerian universities: A study ofLadoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho, Nigeria

Abstract

The study, through a questionnaire survey, investigates library patronage by faculties of Ladoke Akintola University,Ogbomosho, Nigeria. Three hundred and fifty (350) respondents were selected using stratified random sampling out of atotal population of 700 from six faculties. The study revealed that there was significant relationship between librarypatronage of lecturers and level of awareness. The study also found out that majority of respondents used the library veryfrequently and most of the respondents used the library daily for class preparation, to seek information for generalknowledge and specific interest. The study identified unavailability and inaccessibility of current information materials, poorreference and document delivery services etc as barriers to library patronage.
