A NOVEL Co(II) METAL COMPLEXES OF N, O DONOR SALICYLOYL PYRAZOLE OXIME SCHIFF BASES: SYNTHESIS, SPECTROSCOPIC STUDIES AND ANTIMICROBIAL EVALUATION.
Abstract
Five novel mononuclear Co(II) chelate complexes derived from Salicyloyl Pyrazole Oximes were synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, spectroscopic methods (UV-Visible, IR, 1H NMR) and thermal analysis. The elemental analysis suggests that the Schiff Base Co(II) complexes have 1:2 stoichiometry. The spectroscopic determination suggest the complexes are square planer and the Schiff base coordinate to Co(II) metal through imine nitrogen and phenolic oxygen. All synthesized complexes are stable, non-hygroscopic, non-electrolytic and polycrystalline in nature. Most of the ligands and Co(II) complexes possess moderate antimicrobial activity against test bacteria.
